Rabies Clinic


There will be a Rabies Clinic this Saturday, March 20th at the Nelson Town Hall from 9 to Noon.  Cost of the shot is $10, and open to dogs, cats, ferrets and rabbits.

All pets MUST be on leases or in carriers. Please bring each pet's current rabies certificate. Clerks from Nelson, Stoddard and Sullivan will be available to issue 2010 dog registrations.

Animals and their people from ALL communities are welcome!

Seniors Trip to Boston Flower Show

Senior Wii Fun at Keene Public Library

Ballroom Dance Party


The newly formed "Grand Monadnock Chapter" of USA Dance will be sponsoring a Welcome to Spring dance on Saturday, March 20th from 7:30 to 10:30pm in Robert's Hall gathering facility at Alyson's Orchard on Route 12 in Walpole.

Live music will be provided, and there will be dance exhibitions, free dance lessons and light refreshments served.

Admission is $10 for USA Dance members, $13 for non-members.

Diabetes Expo


Cheshire Medical Center Dartmouth Hitchcock Keene will hold a Diabetes Expo Saturday, March 20 from 9 AM to 1 PM in the lobby on Court Street Keene with free screenings, exhibits and information for preventing and managing diabetes. For information call 603-354-5400.

Free Playgroup in Keene


Parents of infants and toddlers looking for a fun way to socialize with other parents while your baby plays. Come join the Wee Time Playgroup at Monadnock Family Services, 30 Washington Street, Keene. The group meets twice a month, the second and fourth Thursday of each month from 10am to 12. The next meeting is Tuesday March 9 with guest speaker Peter Wright from the Keene Public Library.  Peter will be discussing--Understanding Early Language and Literacy Development.  Each playgroup is free. KOC Pancake Breakfast


The Knights of Columbus #5414 will be hosting a pancake breakfast on Sunday, March 28th at St. Margaret Mary, 35 Arch Street in Keene between 8am and 11am.

Scrambled eggs, sausages, hash brown potatoes, pancakes, orange & apple juice, donuts, coffee and tea will be served.

Cost is $6 per adult, and Children 12 and under, $3. Families $15.

Fast Friends Open House


Fast Friends will be holding an Open House on Saturday March 20th from 11pm-2pm at 14 West Swanzey Rd in Swanzey

Fast Friends ,a nonprofit organization, currently has 54 greyhounds for you to come, meet and spend time with dogs that are available for adoption.    They come in all shapes and sizes, both male and female, with a vast variety of colors ranging from solid black to fawn to brindle and spotted.

Celebrate 100 Years of Red Cross First Aid


For the past 100 years the Red Cross has been empowering individuals with the skills they need to care for their loved ones in an emergency. Join them in celebration on Saturday, March 20th by taking a First Aid Course! The  goal is to train 100 people on this day! Classes will be held all day in the following locations:

o  NH West Chapter at 83 Court Street, Keene: 9am-1pm and 2pm-6pm

o  Newport Library, 59 Main Street, Newport: 10am-2pm

o  Monadnock Worksource, 225 Concord Street, Peterborough: 10am-2pm

Free Monadnock Waldorf School Tour


Learn why families have moved across the country to attend Monadnock Waldorf School!  There is no better way to get to know the elementary school program than to visit classes in session.  You will sit in on several grades and observe both children and teachers as they move through their morning lessons.  Tour the elementary school building, a chance to ask questions, learn about financial aid, end enjoy refreshments.

Corned Beef Supper


The First Congregational Church of Swanzey on Route 32 in Sanzey will be having a "Third Saturday Supper" from 5 to 6:30pm on Saturday, March 20th. There will be Corned Beef and all the fixings, Cabbage, Potatoes, Onions, Carrots & Rutabaga, Irish Bread, Coffee & Punch and Jello Pudding Cake.

Bingo Night


The 3rd Bingo night will be held on Tuesday, March 30th at the Walpole Village School on Westminster Street.  Doors open at 6pm with the games starting at 6:30pm.  Delicious, homemade food will also be served. 

Cost to play is $19.

Pancake Breakfast at Walpole Town Hall


A long-time Walpole tradition continues this Palm Sunday with the Annual Pancake Breakfast at the Walpole Town Hall.  Be a part of this fun, long-standing event from 7 to 11am on Sunday, March 28th.  Donations are accepted at the door for this
traditional and delicious breakfast.

Proceeds will benefit the Walpole Village School.

Sap Gathering Contest at Stonewall Farm


In celebration of the New England maple season, Stonewall Farm will host its annual Sap Gathering Contest on Saturday, March 27, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.

      As many as twenty teams from all over New England will compete in the contest, loading and carrying ‘sap’ they’ve gathered from old-fashioned buckets along a marked course. Judges award points to the teams based on technique, quantity of sap collected, and the time it takes each team to successfully complete the course.

     Visitors are invited to watch the action from a knoll outside the LearningCenter. The event will feature exhibits, maple sugaring demonstrations, and an obstacle course. Hayrides and pony rides will be available and the small animal area will feature sheep, chickens and angora rabbits. Lunch and refreshments will be served all day in the Community Room, and maple syrup on ice cream may be purchased outside the sugarhouse.

     Admission to the event is $3 for Stonewall Farm members plus they will receive a free hayride. Children 6 and under are free. General admission is $5 per person. Visitor parking will be located at Alumni Field on Arch Street in Keene, with shuttle service to the event. On-site parking is reserved for teamsters only.

American Red Cross Babysitter?s Training


The American Red Cross in Keene will be holding a Babysitters Training course on Saturday, March 27th from 9am-4pm.

Pot-Luck Luncheon


The First Congregational Church of Swanzey on Route 32 will hold their monthly Pot-Luck luncheon for any adults in the community that would like to join. They gather at 11:45 am and bring a food to share. Lunch begins at noon. A program speaker or demonstration is sometimes included, and its alsways  a great time of fellowship and good conversation!
