Each week Mark will help feature an adoptable critter of the week to help them find their new forever home faster from the Monadnock Humane Society on Route 10 in Swanzey.

Mark’s Country Critter of the Week is proudly powered by WW Building Supply!

This week’s Country Critter:

Mikey
Male, 9 years 6 months
Meet Mikey! Mikey is a special cat with some medical needs looking for his forever home.
Mikey has a heart murmur that is currently well managed and does not require medication. He will need routine veterinary checkups, but this condition is not expected to impact his quality of life moving forward. He also has Progressive Retinal Atrophy, a genetic condition that will gradually affect his vision. Although his eyesight is limited, he can still detect shadows and sense when someone is nearby, and the condition is not painful.
Mikey has proven to be resilient but will need a calm and stable home for his long term wellbeing. Because of his conditions, we recommend that Mikey is the only animal in the home. Mikey is an incredibly affectionate boy who loves everyone he meets. Mikey is likely to form a strong bond with his adopter and become a devoted, comforting companion. As his vision changes, it is especially important for him to settle into a consistent environment where he can learn his surroundings and build confidence.
Come to MHS during our open hours Thursdays – Sundays 11AM- 3PM to meet this loving boy.

Rosie

  • Female
  • Mixed Breed, Medium
  • White
  • 11 years

Rosie is an 11-year-old mixed breed girl weighing about 40 pounds who is ready to find a calm, loving home to spend her golden years. She’s a mellow, easygoing companion who’s happiest with a cozy place to rest and a relaxed daily routine, with just the occasional walk to keep her moving. Rosie is great with people, does well with kids, and has a good history with cats. While she doesn’t have much experience with other dogs, she’s been sweet and wiggly when seeing them in her current care. She is a bit overweight right now, so she’ll benefit from a family committed to helping her slim down at a healthy pace. Overall, Rosie is a gentle, affectionate dog who will make a wonderful, low-key addition to a home looking for a laid-back companion. Come meet her during our open hours, Thursday-Sunday from 11a-3p.

Dylan

7.5 year old male, large mixed breed dog

Dylan is a 7-year-old mixed breed with a lot of personality and a soft spot for his people. He’s crate trained, potty trained, and has a solid history with adults and older kids, making him a great match for a home that understands and respects his boundaries. Dylan is choosy about his canine friends and might prefer to be the only dog in the home, but MHS staff can facilitate a dog introduction for you if you already have a pup in the home and are interested in adding Dylan!

Homes with cats or younger children might not be the best fit, as he can be a bit unaware of his size and prefers a calmer environment. Dylan can be sensitive, so he’ll thrive with an adopter who pays attention to his body language and gives him time to build trust. With the right home, Dylan has so much potential to be a loyal and rewarding companion. Come meet him during our open hours, Thursday-Sunday from 11-3.

The Monadnock Humane Society is located at 101 W. Swanzey Road (off Route 10) in Swanzey, NH. Visiting hours are Thursday through Sunday, 11am-3pm.  Click here to contact them
