KEENE, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) This week marks the final stretch of Keene’s Ward Optimization Weeks (WOW) initiative, with city maintenance efforts concentrated on Ward 5 from Oct. 7-11. The WOW program, launched this fall, has been a collaborative effort between Keene Parks & Recreation and Keene Public Works, aimed at improving infrastructure and addressing resident concerns across all five wards of the city.

The initiative includes a variety of maintenance projects, such as road repairs, repainting crosswalks, replacing worn traffic signs, and cleaning and repairing storm drains and culverts. Parks and trails in each ward have also been a focus, with efforts to remove graffiti, clear litter, and enhance general upkeep.

The WOW program also featured “Ward Wednesdays” on social media, where Keene Parks & Recreation showcased local parks, trails, and amenities, engaging the community through Facebook and Instagram.

As part of the final week’s activities, a town hall meeting will held on Tuesday, Oct. 8, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at Keene High School, and a Community Night will be held at Wheelock Park on Tuesday, Oct. 8, from 4:00-5:30 p.m. The Community Night, hosted by the Community Development Department in partnership with the Keene Public Library, will offer food, yard games, giveaways, and raffles. Residents are encouraged to attend and share their thoughts on neighborhood priorities and concerns with city staff.

Throughout the WOW initiative, residents have been able to submit maintenance requests via the SeeClickFix app or website, or by calling the Public Works office directly at 352-6550. The initiative has been a proactive effort by the city to ensure that maintenance services are distributed fairly and that infrastructure across Keene remains in good condition.

The final Ward 5 community event at Wheelock Park is open to all residents, providing a last chance to engage with city staff and enjoy a family-friendly evening of fun and community-building.
