WINCHESTER, N.H. (MyKeeneNow) – A police pursuit involving multiple law enforcement agencies came to an end in Winchester early this morning.

The incident began around 12:20 a.m. when officers attempted to stop a vehicle on Summer Street. However, the driver failed to comply, triggering a high-speed chase that stretched through several towns, including Claremont, Charlestown, Walpole, Westmoreland, Keene, Swanzey, and Winchester, according to a news release from the Claremont Police Department.

As the chase unfolded, numerous police departments joined the effort to apprehend the suspect. Among those involved were the Charlestown, Walpole, Keene, Swanzey, and Winchester police departments as well as the Bellows Falls police department and New Hampshire State Police.

Officers deployed spike strips along the pursuit route but the driver initially managed to evade them, the release said. It wasn’t until the vehicle passed through Westmoreland and Keene that three of the four tires were finally punctured, forcing the suspect to continue driving on rims.

The chase ultimately came to an end when the driver was unable to cross Coombs Bridge in Winchester. The operator, identified as 41-year-old Daniel O’Donnell of Swanzey, was taken into custody at the scene.

O’Donnell now faces a range of charges, including reckless conduct with a deadly weapon, possession of a controlled drug, disobeying an officer, resisting arrest, driving under the influence (DUI), and transporting drugs in a motor vehicle. Police also discovered that O’Donnell had an outstanding warrant for a violation of probation.

Authorities have indicated that the investigation is still ongoing and more charges may be filed.
